Thinking of Selling Honolulu Real Estate?
April 21st, 2009 categories: For Sellers
The sale of a condominium or home in Honolulu is one of the largest financial transactions a person might complete in a given year! With this in mind, the selection of the broker to handle this sale is really important. How do you select an agent? There are many ways to go about the process. You can get a referral from a friend, choose the one that advertises the most, go with a national firm or consult an oracle.
In my opinion, a company is only as good as the individual agent you might select. I know very good Realtors at both large and small companies, national and local firms, one-person shops and brokerages with 300+ agents. Here’s my point, select the agent with whom you will be working, as they will be you point of contact and the person in charge of customer service. Here are 9 questions to ask any agent you are thinking about hiring to sell a property.
1. How long have you been in real estate sales?
2. Are you full-time?
3. Do you have an agent or brokers license?
4. Have you ever been sued, mediated, arbitrated or found guilty of an ethical violation by your local Board of Realtors?
5. Explain your thoughts on representing a seller’s interests?
6. Can you provide me 2 or 3 past clients that would be willing to speak with me regarding you and your service?
7. Can you provide me the names of 2 or 3 brokers at other firms that would be willing to talk to me about you reputation in the brokerage community?
8. Who do you target with your marketing efforts?
9. What is your ranking for an organic google search for Honolulu real estate?
There is an old saying, “Inspect what you expect”. The answers to these questions will help with the inspection process. As for me, I will answer these questions in future posts. Stay tuned.
