VA Loan Limits Change For Honolulu and Hawaii

I just received an email notifying me of a change in the maximum VA loan amounts for Hawaii. This is the first time that I can remember they went down! I guess there is a first for everything. In the past the VA has used average market area values to determine their loan amounts and since ours are down these might be reflective of those changes. Even with the lower loan amounts $700,000 for Honoulu buy quite a bit of town-home or condo. Depending on the part of Oahu that you are looking in for a house, you may find that the new amount will be just fine or it could mean you will have to settle for a condo.
