Honolulu Property Tax Assessments Are Down

If you own a home or condo in Honolulu, you should have received your tax assessment by the time you are reading this. If you are like most of my clients, the assessed value of your property down as compared to last year. At first, this looks like a good thing because you should pay less in taxes because, theoretically, there is less to be taxed. Pacific Business News had a very interesting take on the reduction.

With the tight economy, let’s hope that the City and County of Honolulu can find a way to make up for the shortage without a significant decrease in essential services.
