Welcome to a Blog that will tap you into my 30 years of real estate experience. My goal is to help Sellers and Buyers of real estate in Honolulu understand the process, customs and methods of negotiating that will make your Hawaii real estate experience fun and profitable. I thought it would be helpful for you to understand a little about the knowledge base from which I tap.
Let’s begin with my chronological path in the real estate business. My career began in 1983 in Orange County California (Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, etc). Fixed interest rates for a 30 year mortgage ranged between 18% and 21%. Adjustable rate mortgages were at 15.75% with no upper cap on how high the rate could go. While in Southern California, I spent the majority of my time selling multiple unit investment apartments. Then in 1991 I was married and my wife and I decided to move back to Hawaii.
Having grown up in Lahaina on Maui, I decided city life was more appealing and settled in Honolulu. Given the thin multiple unit market and a residential real estate housing market with demand that has never been met, it was only natural to help people buy and sell houses and condominiums. 1991 found me working for one of Honolulu’s largest independent companies, Bradley Properties. 1995 brought me my real estate brokers license and I joined RE/MAX.
Helping people buy and sell real estate on Oahu is more than a job. It is a passion! Unlike other parts of the U.S. homes in Hawaii are so expensive that many people sacrifice a great deal to get that first house or condo. For me, the reward is seeing the positive financial events set in play by getting my fellow citizens into home ownership. So welcome to my world! Let me be your Hawaii real estate resource.
